Apparently you didn't pray enough.

Is the decision to be made at field due to the late hour?

Gimme a couple of minutes, I need to contact maple grove.

Comment Posted by marc Jun 01, 2009 11:38 AM

Games are cancelled for tonight, I'm contacting teams and refs now.

Comment Posted by marc Jun 01, 2009 12:19 PM

Of course now it's looking like it's clearing up. Everybody in the city has cancelled their games, but maybe we all jumped the gun.

I can understand some people being upset if it's clear at 7pm, but I'm sure more of you would've been upset driving to the field at 6pm only to have the game cancelled.

Trust me, it's way more work for us to reschedule games than it is to just have you show up, so I'm likely more upset than you are. Next time maybe we'll wait a bit longer.

Sorry,
marc

It's all the Bondiddy Bengal's fault. Every time they have a game it's a rainout.

Comment Posted by lmitchnik Jun 01, 2009 02:33 PM

I'd say it was a good call. It was raining cats & dogs here in EK/Elmwood a few minutes ago with hail and thunder with some lightning. Not sure how it is in the South & West though.

Downtown it was hailing at one point, all while the sun was shining.

Just don't schedule the Bengals and Anvils on the same day and the weather curse may go away. Our one and only game so far was against the Bengals and it was a windy evening even for optimist. Two rain delays since then...I'd like to lodge a formal complaint if someone could tell me where to send the documentation.

Apparently the other factor is Andy as one of your refs. He's been assigned to games on every rained out night so far. Something is definitely up here.

3rd rainout game out of 4 already. Next game is thursday this week. Guess what, weather calls for rain.

You're jinxing it with that post!

So for those of you who think there really is Global Warming....

Not sure where you are located, but it is absolutely pouring in Transcona right now. Anyone know what is happening in sunny Saint James?

Will Bondiddy ever get a chance to play?

Comment Posted by Grubbs Jun 04, 2009 11:45 AM

So is there games tonight we play at 6

Comment Posted by marc Jun 04, 2009 11:46 AM

Cancelled, teams will be contacted.

Comment Posted by Tmoney Jun 04, 2009 02:25 PM

wtf

Comment Posted by Jyuen Jun 07, 2009 09:26 AM

Oh goody, Rain all week. I vote we play unless Lightning strikes. If Timbits soccer and little leage softball can brave the rain, so can we.

Comment Posted by marc Jun 07, 2009 03:13 PM

It's usually about protecting the fields. I don't care if you guys get soaked :)

Comment Posted by Jyuen Jun 07, 2009 05:08 PM

Sometimes you just gotta say "What the F***".
At this rate we wont play till our Stadium game.

Comment Posted by marc Jun 08, 2009 05:58 AM

We should be happy, it's like we all got relocated to Vancouver for free. Except that this would be winter there...

Comment Posted by Jyuen Jun 08, 2009 06:09 AM

Yeah but we only got the rain portion not the warm weather portion.

Comment Posted by bbengals Jun 08, 2009 06:58 AM

we will never play again!!!

Comment Posted by spider Jun 08, 2009 07:18 AM

Move the Bengals games inside to the Dome! I bet it's cheap to rent out in the Summer!
Or just re-schedule all Monday night games. Hasn't it rained every Monday?

How about we build that extra field (no posts) at L'esperance or Optr(baseball diamonds)

Comment Posted by Jyuen Jun 08, 2009 07:47 AM

WTFL Dome
Surely Maple Grove has an answer for us by now.

Comment Posted by marc Jun 08, 2009 07:55 AM

Games are cancelled.

Bondiddy has just set a new season record (that I can remember) for rainouts. They are also undefeated and at this rate will not be challenged.

I'm thinking if we ever get a nice day on a weekend we should just have a bondiddy bengals tournament. Every team from Div A can show up and take turns playing them so that they can get their games in.

Comment Posted by Jyuen Jun 08, 2009 08:19 AM

Can we keep track of this in a WTFL Almanac?

Comment Posted by lmitchnik Jun 08, 2009 12:51 PM

Anvils aren't far behind as this is our 3rd rainout in a row. We've only played one game and that was against Bondiddy (how the hell did we manage that?) Ah yes, no rain, but gale force winds. Hopefully our 1st rescheduled game for this Sat. will not get rained out as well.

I do apologize! It seems anytime I'm scheduled to ref it turns out to be a rain out. I even gave my game this past monday away to try and shake the jinx but to no avail. The good news is that I have very few games left this half that I'm scheduled to ref so there should be better weather on the way.

Hmmm Thundershowers for Thursday all of a sudden...
Maybe we should just play on the fly. if we see sun, ditch work and just play ball.

Comment Posted by marc Jun 11, 2009 08:22 PM

Wait a sec, did you guys get to play today? :)

Comment Posted by Gil Jun 12, 2009 04:56 AM

The games were played but the Bondiddy rain curse continues. Perfectly clear sky for first game than Bondiddy takes the field for game two and out of no where the clouds roll in and rain starts.

They should rent themselves out to drought stricken areas.
