Hi Marc. Does the rule of a maximum of 3 upper division players per team still apply like it did before ? I did not see any mention of that on your posting. Thinking of starting a team. Thanks.

Mel

There are no maximum or minimum numbers, but depending on your roster it will affect which division you would be allowed to play in.

One thing in the rule that is worth repeating is that you wouldn't be allowed to "pull down" players after the roster deadline (registration night). The point of the new rule is to allow players to play on 2 teams, but not allow teams to pull down "ringers" mid-season and gain a competitive advantage.

Does this mean that there is no longer a roster deadline date in August for adding players? Or can players still be added after the registration night?

Hey Les,

Players can still be added after registration night but they will have to be approved before they can be added. Approval will be made by a Competition Committee.

Note: A player from an upper division of the WTFL will not be allowed to move down to a lower division of the WTFL. Again this is to maintain competitive balance as the season goes on. For example: Division 3 teams will not have to worry about a Division 1 player joining their competition part way through the season.

A Competition Committee will be comprised of WTFL members, and will be responsible for approving roster changes after the deadline. Any members of the WTFL who are interested in being a member of the competition committee can contact the executive at executive@wtfl.ca

Members of the Competition Committee will work via email- so no meetings will be required.

Cheers,
Craig

I think the August deadline didn't exist last year either. To be eligible for playoffs the player needed to play 6 games so you would've needed to add the player to your roster before your 13th game (whenever that was).

This year, if you add a player to your roster after the registration date, it will go to the competition committee for approval. If that player already plays in a higher division in the WTFL it will not be allowed.

The goal here is to allow people who want to play on 2 teams that opportunity, but not at the cost of giving teams an unfair advantage.
