Should we really have Marty reffing in games in his own division with playoff implecations at stake. It smaks of conflict of interest. And should we have a ref talking smack on the web site reffing a game in which he is anti the Qb on that team.

Well I know I am totally wasting my time responding to this thread by an author that is completely anal in every sense of the word but I just couldn't resist.
Princess Glen, there are 3 other referees that head ref in the WTFL who happen to also play in the exact same division that they referee in and nobody is bringing something as petty as this up with them, sure we are 2 weeks away from playoffs but do you think I really care how the other 66 teams do in a game? As for as conflict of interest? The only interest I have is what the OC does and how hung over I am for the weekend games. I’m there to do the best job I can period as a Zebra (boy those reading from the UTFL must be laughing there ass off, it’s the old switch a roo!! ) . Did I do such a poor job?? Because if I did why did half a dozen guys complement me on the game that I called as I walked to the parking lot and “genius” 2 of them were from your own team. I was professional and courteous and I left the “smack” talk for the forum as it is only a joke anyways.
Regarding the only call I could think of you would be moaning and groaning about is where I missed a sack where your rusher dove at the QB and hit the ground, during that time he slapped the back of the chargers qb’s heal (so I am told), it happened in a split second and in my opinion I thought your rushers right hand with a block glove hit the ground and that was it – complete miss, Bartel sold it well, Of course your team argued and If I did miss it they had a right too, I gave them a direct explanation on what I saw and that was it, next play nobody got upset and geez even Franklin was quiet, so it couldn’t be that bad!!!.
I don’t think when one team jumps out to a 38-7 half time lead that any one or 2 questionable calls from my crew in the “first qtr” caused the 31 point difference . My question to you is, Don’t you think Lady Dyck that your 2 or 3 interceptions (1 in the Charger endzone) , and a dozen or so incompletions might have been the reason your offense went 3 and out on a few series and your defense was hung out to dry?? Throw in your ramblings on the sidelines about me refereeing and it was obvious to everyone you were off your game and psyched out. I have no problems with you Mr. Dyck, you used to be a good veteran QB who could pick apart a defense at will and I had respect for you. Now your just a guy who has had a really bad season and my guess will probably hang it up after this year because I can tell from your team the moral on the O isn’t as high as it has been in years previous.
Don’t worry about me refereeing you in the playoffs either, I probably won’t referee at all because I’m focused on getting the OC that 3rd division championship before we move up to div 2 next season. Have a good playoff qtr Glen, I say that because I know you’ll get pulled by your team if you see me within 100 feet scouting your playoff game, maybe just for fun I’ll show up in stripes ;)

Your response was typical. I was asking a question for the future. I don't need your long drawn out justification. Me thinks thou doth protest too much. I finally figured you two out. It takes lard to make french fries. Bend out of Shape has an excess so he donates it to Thirsty for Attention who makes french fries and then feeds them back to Bend out of Shape to restore the lard and the cycle is complete.

When you were a young man the WTFL were amazed how fast you could move your feet, Decades have passed and now you look and play like a homeless man right off the street, week in and week out your team is constantly getting beat, to see you win in the playoffs or shut me up is going to be one heck of a feat!
In 2006 Your teammates all opened there eyes and realized playing Football with you is no longer the same, Your old and senile and can’t remember even Brad’s name, We see you try to squint to read the defense and geez guy your audibles are even getting more lame, don’t hate the referees for your losing record we’re not to blame, Hey Dyck, Did you realize it was way back 2003 the last time your team beat mine in a Game??

I do agree with a little that has been said. Insults not included. I do think Marty did a
good job last night. It really wasn't that close. Marty may have missed a call or 2 but nothing that really would have changed the outcome. I wasn't sure if that was a sack or not. Could have been. But refs miss
things once and a while. It doesn't mean they are cheering for one team or another.
However, I do agree players in their own division probably shouldn't head ref a game in
their own division. Lionel awas doing a game on the other field. He could have done our game
easily. I have no issue with
back judging or sideling. That doesn't matter. But head ref should be someone from outside
the division.
This site is driving me crazy...my typing keeps going off the screen.
Anyway, I am not here to insult anyone. Just play football and try to put a competetive team
on the field and if we keep playing like we did last night. Playoffs could be interesting.
The Chargers are starting to jell.

Thanks for the Props regarding the refereeing Brian, it’s not like it was the first time I refereed a game involving two 3rd division teams. I have head refereed in this 3rd division quite a few times this year with zero complaints, the Rude boys plenty of times, The Drillers a few times No D quite a bit also (okay wait there was this one complaint by them but that was not about football more about dancing on a speaker in Regina (jk))
I was suppose to referee the Nomads 4 or 5 times this season as a head ref but the first 4 times I have asked the backjudge to referee previously because I knew this exact problem would occur with Glen thinking there was a conspiracy on my part against him. Last night I took my assignment because I was tired of drafting games yet losing cash to step aside to make one guy with issues towards me happy, this is so retarded for grown men to even be worried about such drivel.
Why would anyone think that I or any other referee in this league would not be man or woman enough to call a game fair or be professional for 4 – 20 minute qtrs. I mean we write crap on the forum for $hit and Giggles (well I totally do), in person we are always polite to guys and as referee’s especially, heck I have even drank beers with teams after games that I have ref’d (They offered) and some of these teams didn’t even win the game. I think the few guys who do Head ref against teams in their own division (Les, Todd, Brad, Myself) do not try to be biased in any ways towards one team or another as we are just trying to make some extra money and watch some good football (well once in a while).
Not to mention your under a microscope with critics who don’t even ref themselves so why give them possible ammunition to their dumb theories?
I really have to learn to write less......

last game we played we won 45-0 and its marty's fault. he head reffed and is also a qb in our division (venom) and he was totally biased against us, he was also gender biased cuz he hates men and he was racist against us cuz we have a few "coloured" players and also he stereotyped us because we have a reputation for drinking rather heavily. I know if we had another ref who wasnt also playing in our division we would have won 4632780460 - 0 and we would have gotten way drunker and the whole world wouldnt have stopped spinning. Now for those of you who think i'm actually serious give your head a shake and get a life. Marty was just fine and he even shared in a cold bevvie after the game with us. come on guys, lighten up.
speaking of shake, marty can i get some of those fries everyone keeps talking about. they sound good.

I agree with the idea of not reffing in your own division......if
there's a shortage of refs and nothing can be done about it, then
that's the way it is and hopefully the ref can be unbiased to ref
the way it is........but definitely a referee should not be reffing
a game in which he has close connections with a team that is full of
league officials/refs nor should that ref be influenced by that team on close calls.
Not only is that unfair, but it destroys the intergrity of the game.
Also, some teams/players might see biased calls but don't say
anything because they don't want to give refs any reason to call
more against them down the road.......so then what do you do?
In most games though, I would say the refs have been fair and are out
there trying their best so that's all you can ask.

Your comments about refs being biased are assinine. The refs have way too much to do, than to skeem to devise a plan to screw with your team. I find these kind of retarded comments insulting, and they reveal the inability of the writer to accept the fact that they just are poor athletes(if they can even be called that) Go back to your "Madden football" where you can be the wannabe you wannabee.
The insinuation that Marty is biased is an insult to all refs.
It's like saying Brad Kelm refs in Elite and he is the cause of the results in the standings.

Spidey: Remove Marty from this discussion. Any ref who could be conceived to have a conflict of interest should be removed from that scenario. Perception is the key word here. Why smarty pants(non idiot) do judges in our court system remove themselves from hearing a trial where there is perceived conflict of interest.

Hmmm! Let's see the chickens have taken over running the hen house....Let's get this straight, a losing record team complains about a ref in their division, because he happens to bein the same division?
I have a better idea. Why don't we just quit this bullshit, about everyone making the play-off, an go with the top 4 teams in each div. Then the bottom feeders, could crawl away, go play hockey, or whatever other self important sport they think they can still play. Then the playoffs would feature the best teams, less refs would be needed, so the cellar dweller/bottomfeeding bootlicking, looking up to an ant's belly ot of the play-off teams would not need refs, and a less frantic appoach to ref shedulling could be accomadated.
Then all the refs could be assigned games, totally unquestionably appropriate to the ref co-ordinators determination.
So who would be the top four in 3rd. The Nomads??? agghhh haaaa, haaaaa! Sorry!

There in need of a QB who doesn’t quit at half time on them and they need someone who can throw for more than 26 TD’s a year.
Speaking of choke artist's, Aren't you the same QB who hasn't won a title at any level since they invented the wheel? Pracing around in your living room wearing female undies listening to “we are the champions” must be getting old for you while everyone else is playing in the playoffs.
