WTFL History
The Winnipeg (Centennial) Touch Football League, has a proud history - founded in 1974 by former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Don Jonas. We're Winnipeg's only not-for-profit league run by a volunteer board committing all resources back to league members. We pride ourselves on providing players "the best game day experience".
Governed by a member-voted constitution, the WTFL promotes participation, fair-play, consistent pricing and officiating which sets the stage for a environment ideal for competition of all levels.
The Women's Division of the WTFL was formed in 2005 which contributed in Manitoba's bid for the national touch football "Tournament of Champions" in 2006.
Each year teams from the WTFL also compete in neighboring provinces and in the USA.
The WTFL is committed to continually investing in and promoting the sport of touch football through tireless efforts of countless volunteers over the decades. Each year referee training is sponsored to consistently improve and attract quality officials to our league. Each game has a fully-certified, properly uniformed referee squad. New players are encouraged through skills clinics, so the pride of the WTFL carries for generations....already demonstrated by fathers and sons - and daughters - now playing together in the 'W'.
