The recently completed Level One, Two and Three Touch Officials clinic saw 27 people certify to become WTFL Touch Football officials. If the attendees had shown up in tuxs and tails and gowns last night it would have been the perfect All-Star awards galla evening.
Hmmmmm. Let's see.
Congratulations to the WTFL exec who saw a need to train more officials. And as noted earlier, why not train some of the best the league has to offer to patrol the sidelines or elsewhere. We did!
It looks like the WTFL will be set for the next 30 years with the crew that attended the clinic this past weekend.
2006 WTFL MVP Wayne Jackson showed upto patrol the sidelines.
2007 WTFL MVP Mike Brownridge attended the level One.
2007 TOC's outstanding rookie QB, Jon Frankln, attended the Level One.
Morningwood All-Star, Martin Windus was there.
All-league Defensive star, Sean Fuller was kickin butt with his sunglasses on! (That cloudy saturday afternoon a little too bright???) heh! heh!
The Woman division's all time /all League toughest receiver, Wildcat, Adele Kapeluch was there checkin out her Level one and two!
Maniax's All-Star QB Todd Hersak attended
Wraith's Landon Mah and Jason Hancheruck were representing their team
Vipers Sean Cassidy was doing likewise
Coach Rob Chymy was there checkin out the rules for his Ladies team.
The WTFL Doctah, Kanwal Saran was taking note of the operating procedure (pun intended)
Young players Amrit Basi and Deep Bhullar were there training to earn dollars for next year's tuition!
WTFL Website Guru and registrar, Becca "it ain't" Duhard was certifying!
Oak Park Pirate Matthew Brunnel was there loadin upinfo!
The WTFL's best kept non-elite player super-star Phil Chan was there demonstrating how fast he really is.
Not to be outmatched veteran WTFLer Don Hink exhibited years of experience taking up the Pin stripes for the very first time. - Lookin right at home.
Sophmore official Derrick Godfried with his accompanying "out of this World" cupcake shop sample was lacing up the boots for his Level 3.
Ditto, Andy Reghr, Perry Gilmour and Dallas Muir!
However, the stars of the day had to be for the Level One Headlinesman portion - JaRule Jeanson. The man can make anything electrical! Not only one of the Griffins leading receivers, , web site wizzard, now Level 3 official!! What's left?
And hey, didja know, in the past, the WTFL has given several CFL refs and trainees their start?? And we may just have found the first potential CFL Woman Official!!! Wendy Shupina was flying around the DB backfied and would hardly come off the field. (Brad she may hone in on your 300 games, so watchout)
But the star of the Head ref section had to be McBlundt! Not only did he ask thought provoking questions, show incredible toughness to fight through personal pain, suffered the night before, progress exponentially through the levels., he ended up helping coach/run the offence and defence used to demonstrate. McBlundt runs the shoe!
HUGE Thanks goes out to veteran officials Cliff Kitchen,Lionel Bernhard, and Grant Wuckert for coming out and coaching the officials through their applied rules knowledge and mechanics portion.
Now for those that have missed thefun, a second Level One only clinic will be held this Friday and Saturday. But there are only 6 seats left. Now the league will be selling wall seating(limited view) seats for $10.00. Standing room only will also be sold for $ 5.00 Tickets may be ordered through the website by contacting myself, and for receiving a confirmation number, enabling one to attend upon payment at the door.
Congratulations to the WTFL and it's clinic attendee officials, for taking this one small step, but a giant leap for the WTFL!
