Former Air Assault and Maniax player Donovan Alexander was signed by the Seattle Seahawks today. As usual terms of the deal were not announced. The former Fighting Sioux defensive back Donovan Alexander signed a free agent contract with the National Football League's Seattle Seahawks.
Alexander was one of 12 undrafted college free agents signed today by the Seahawks.
The Winnipeg, Maitoba, native was a three-year starter at cornerback for the Sioux and was a two-time All-North Central Conference selection. In January, Alexander participated in the Valero Cactus Bowl, the NCAA Division II All-Star Football game, after completing his senior season.
Alexander played in 52 career games and graduated tied for fourth all-time at UND with 32 pass breakups. He helped lead UND to an NCAA postseason appearance in each of his four seasons and was named to the Academic All-NCC team in 2007. He was also named to the NCC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in each of his final two seasons.
In 2006 Alexander was drafted in the third round (23rd overall) by the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League Canadian Draft.

Donovan is a class act all the way and it was an honour having him play on our team. I'm sure that his wonderful parents, Marilyn and Derek must be very proud of him. If he doesn't catch on with the Seahawks just watch him burn up the CFL as an Alouette. Former Maniax player Tye Noble is another excellent player that will eventually follow Donovan into the CFL and who knows, why not the NFL.

Tye is playing with Derek and SS Trojans for part of the season and then is playing CIS with the Calgary Dinosaurs. I'm not sure where our Mazur League Rifle guys will end up this year(Justin,Cody, and Mike) but I'm sure they will succeed where ever they go. Probably some CIS teams as well.
