How about presenting an award to the team in each division that most consistently displays good sportsmanship and fair play throughout the season. The winner of each division could be determined by game officials and/or team reps from each respective division. Team reps would have to vote for a team other than their own. Being named the best sportsman like team by one's peers would be quite an honour for the winning team. Awards/trophies/tee shirts could be presented to the winning teams at the AGM. Rewarding excellent team sportsmanship with some sort of recognition/award will hopefully go a long way in making our league a friendlier more fun environment for both refereees and players. This could be a win win situation for all involved.

Nice idea Mel, but our budget is pretty tapped out actually.

If you can get a company to sponsor the award for a dozen awards, it would be something to consider. But change the criteria for selection. Our refs have more than enough to do, and after all the abuse taken, probably would not want to select anyone anyway.

Nothing stopping you from doing it though. Keep us posted on the results.

and as a opposite, how about the worst team? The refs could easily vote on that one. Actually we have a tally going already. Guess who is winning? (kidding) ...not!

Hey it'a all good.
