Was their anything established as to where the games will be played this year?
Are they still going to be primarily at Little Mountain?
Is Little Mountain going to take care of the field this year and throw some water on it?
Curious because I am starting a team this year and playing surface is the determining factor.

Huh? You are starting a team this year and playing surface is a determining factor? Like I said Huh?

How could that be?
We will play in all four corners of the known world....er Winnipeg. We will rotate fields as we did much of last year, only more so. This ensures you the player, a playing surface similar to a golf green.

We are finalizing contracts, as I speak with lil Mtn, MapleGrove, one of HS Paul/Charring Cross/George McDowell/Julie Riel?, (Reynauld is that the name of that school across from you?) Optimist and, new for Transcona-ites, Buhler Park, starting in August.

We may have a couple other city fields to supplement our rather expansive crop, as we deem necessary. Oh yeah, and Winnipeg Stadium, home of the Winnipeg Touch Football League and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Last year, Little Mtn was watered in a timely fashion, by nature, and aeroated once, by "Bob". The Exec is on top of the Lil Mtn field situation like a "fly on rice." Not only will, Scott, "don't call me George" Mac Arthur, our field maintenance co-ordinator liasion, be on top of it, he will be joined by Rick, "the Enforcer" Hoydelo.

Similar to a golf green? The only grass you're "on top of like a fly on rice" seems to be the type you smoke.

Little mountain was NOT watered in a timely fashion. I don't even think the hose is long enough to reach the far fields. I know because I had to move that 1 sprinkler/hose that he has off the field before a couple of our games.

But hey it's Winnipeg, most of the fields suck here. Actually, Little Mountain isn't even IN Winnipeg, dammit I'm wrong again.

Little mountain was fine last year, u gotta concider it was a windy summer, and didn't rain that much. U will get that anywhere, at least the fields there are pretty much level and not full of a million holes and a good size. Unlike a lot of the feild u will find at community centres or schools. Played at a few feilds lastyear and little mtn was a treat compaired to them. One the main reasons im not goin back to the utfl, cause most those feilds are garbage. its like playin on turf when its dry, wear long sleaves and some different cleets.

yea, we played a lot of our games there and i mean it wasn't all that bad. i have played in the utfl and another thing is they use pylons. the linez at little mountain were great. they did a great job of that. i've considered the utfl as well but other than a bit of dry fields (like erreywhere) i enjoyed it at little mountain park.

Every field in the city sucked, both leagues.....until somebody actually waters them. Actually Maple Grove was probably the best.

Hopefully Buhler Park turns out to be as good as they say. The city needs more east end fields.

The best field going right now is Vince Leah community centre that the UTFL uses. I love that field. They water it quite a bit in the summer and you can tell. It wasn't always lined, but I'll take a nice unlined field over a crappy unlined field.

Jeff you're right in that good fields are hard to find in winnipeg for both leagues. Unless you're soccer.

For the guys who say they like little mountain, let me guess...you live in the north end right? There is no way a sober person will tell me that the fields are good there. I can understand that if you live out in that area of the city that you'd sacrifice a better field for close proximity.

The only way this problem will get solved is that somebody has to get some "client 9" type information on a local politician. Then use that blackmail to get us some fields. I'm kiddin...mostly.

itz good for location wise for me. i played soccer at little mtn too and their soccer fields were better than their football. i even think they had water going on them often. but we only play once a week soccer so the fields had time to recoperate. i think touch football at utfls vince leah was awesome, but i know that they i've bin told they pay good money for that field. i guess that sez you get what you pay for.

Of course they water the soccer fields. Could you imagine how many pre-madonnas would be on the ground writhing in pain if they had to play on the same fields we do. They'd never get a game in.

Little MTN is as hard as any field in the city. It might have thicker grass, but it isn't any softer. Plus, location sucks for those in the South part of the city.

Unless you work in the South end or live there (and are coming to the game from home), it's too hard to get to South end fields for a 6 pm weekday game. Unless you can take the Perimeter, you're on St.Mary's or Osborne and it's down to the wire. Factor in picking up pads and getting in any kind of warm up. My two cents is to keep South end fields for late games and weekends. Route 90 North is far more dependable than streets going South.

Soft grass on lined fields in Winnipeg...sounds like the holy grail, no?

i dont understand y we dont just play on the soccer fields. or get the same treatment. we pay to play, they should atleast treat us that way. the soccer games don't even use all the soccer fields all the time. i guess the conclusion is all fields suck so just be happy playing football? maybe i will just use pylons at assiniboine park this summer heh heh. anybody want to join my league lol?

Is there any news on any additional fields being added to the list? Are teams able to request a more balanced field schedule around the city or are games still slated to be held primarily at Little MTN. Thanks!

Hmmm, Did you read my initial post. 4 areas of the city, more than enough fields.

If you have something in mind let us know. We are always interested in new fields. Maybe someone hassome acreage they aren't using?? As Scotty said, if ya know of an open area, we can line it, I just bought a ton of field markers for just that purpose.
